The verified seal

Verified entries receive a compact public seal after the review is complete. The seal means the entry was checked through the verification process; it does not mean endorsement, sponsorship, or a guaranteed grade.

Opinionated rubricVerification checks application of the published Good Companies Directory rubric. It does not convert the directory into a neutral rating agency.
Source standardReviewers prefer primary records, official filings, regulator or court materials, credible independent reporting, and directly relevant company documents.
No pay-for-scorePayment funds review time. It never purchases score changes, claim removal, badge display, search placement, or reviewer agreement.
Public limitsA verified record can still be low-scoring, disputed, incomplete, or revised later when stronger evidence appears.

Transparent pricing

Launch pricing is temporary while the review system is being established. The tier is based on the larger of staff size, annual revenue, institutional complexity, and public impact.

Payment

Payment starts only after moderator approval and a written quote. The intake record carries the preferred payment route so the reviewer can issue the right invoice.

What verification includes

Identity and ownership checkConfirm the legal entity, parent/owner relationships, scale, and public-facing brands.
Evidence reviewCompare public sources, primary materials, submitted documents, and counterevidence against the current rubric.
Score application reviewCheck whether the score follows the rubric and whether any axis is under-evidenced, outdated, or miscalibrated.
Company responseRepresentatives can point to missing facts, documentation, corrections, and specific objections.
Public audit trailScore-impacting changes are recorded with rationale. Verified status and scope are visible on the profile.
Listing creationUnlisted organizations can enter the directory through verification, subject to the same rubric and public trail.

What verification does not do

No purchased score changesScores change only when review finds factual errors, omissions, outdated evidence, or miscalibration.
No private suppressionSource-backed criticism is not removed because an organization pays. Disputed claims are handled through evidence and public rationale.
No endorsementA verified low score is still possible. Verification means the record has been checked, not that the organization is good.
No permanent statusVerification can expire, narrow in scope, or be revoked if important facts change or submitted materials were misleading.

Process

  1. Request a quote.Send the organization name, website, size tier, and the main reason for verification.
  2. Moderator approval.A reviewer checks that the request is legitimate, assigns a tier, and opens a verification intake record.
  3. Document review.The organization supplies primary materials and a representative response. Reviewers compare them with public evidence.
  4. Scoring audit.Reviewers update claims, score components, confidence, parent/owner information, and verification scope when evidence supports a change.
  5. Publication.The profile shows verified status, scope, date, confidence basis, and any score-impacting audit entries.
